Your healing process

1:1 Coaching

What will we be working on together during your sessions?

During private 1:1 sessions, you will receive instruction and guidance on how to relate back to your felt sensations and body. Through relating to sensations we learn how to support the natural responses of the autonomic nervous system. You will learn to relate to your body through simple instruction from me as we talk and communicate.

You will be guided toward noticing emotions, postures, movements and gestures, and learning to feel responses such as shaking or changes in temperature. Through this guidance you will establish safety and security through the natural way that your body processes and releases stress.

You’ll gain new tools and resources:

Together, we will be working on developing tools to regulate your nervous system. During moments of past stress we often have very limited tools and resources to support ourselves. We are often exposed to trauma and do not know how to let go of the stress that has accumulated from these events. In private sessions you and I will be working on these tools to help the body and nervous system to release and settle through our stress and tension.

New tools can bring consistent relief, stability, and safety to our nervous system and life. New tools give us ways to calm ourselves down, to settle our body, and to give us access to safety and control in our present life.

New tools that are brought into our work together can look like.

  • Breathing through tension.

  • Placing a hand on the body to hold and contain tension and stress.

  • Grounding Exercises.

  • Embodied movement.

  • Learning to relate to safety, ease, and release.

  • Sharing our story with self-acceptance on non Judgment.

Through our work together you will learn how to support yourself in the present. The nature of our sessions is not to relive the past through cognitively analyzing yourself or the things that you went through. Our focus is on communicating and sharing in a caring and compassionate environment, while focusing on the body and supporting yourself in the present moment. We do this through referring back to the body and sensations to teach you how to regulate your nervous system.

We will focus on building a foundation of compassion, connection, and support in the present to recover from past trauma.

What is a somatic approach?

Somatic means the body. Somatic approaches are bottom up rather than top down.  A somatic approach focuses on the nervous system and regulating our physiology to support healing. Somatic approaches use the body as a guide to healing physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.

Why focus on the body and nervous system?

The nervous system plays a crucial role in our physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing. It controls and regulates various systems that maintain our body's homeostasis. Trauma from the past can negatively affect the nervous system, leading to imbalances in the major systems that it controls. Bottom-up approaches focus on regulating the primitive parts of our brain, such as the brainstem and limbic system, which are most affected by traumatic stress.

By prioritizing the nervous system, we can work through our physiological responses to stress and trauma, regulate the autonomic nervous system, and overcome our primitive reactions. This helps us to bring our physiology back into balance, which, in turn, influences our perceptions and interactions with the world around us. Somatic work delves into the root of our stress and tension, bringing the mind and body together to facilitate the healing and restoration of past trauma.

Our work together will be grounded in:

  • Helping you establish a relationship with your nervous system.

  • Helping you to understand how the past may have shaped your nervous system and the relationship with your body.

  • Supporting you to trust your physiology.

  • Rewiring past limiting beliefs that still negatively influence your life.

  • Opening to a less stressed and guarded relationship with life. Learning to relate to life through safety and regulation as a step toward healing and recovery.

You might be ready to start your healing journey if you:

  • If you want to be a consistent, present, and positive support system for yourself.

  • If you desire to be a positive, caring, compassionate, and loving contribution to other people’s lives.

  • If you are longing for more ease, safety, peace, and freedom in your life.

  • If you want to address complex or childhood trauma with gentleness, care, and self-compassion.

  • Have been longing for deeper connections, more intimate connections, and feeling a part of other people’s lives.

  • If you have been feeling stuck and stagnated in your relationships, career, and in your healing journey.

Our work together will not be focused on fixing you. You already have everything that you need to heal. Your body knows how to recover and repair. All we have to do is encourage you to hold your nervous system with care and compassion.

What will you receive?
